TEA Update: 15% Requirement

TEA sent a press release out this afternoon regarding the implementation of the 15% rule regarding EOC assessments.

“Commissioner of Education Robert Scott announced today that is he deferring implementation of the new 15 percent grading requirement connected to the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness end-of-course examinations. Please see the attached press release for details.”

Please read the attachment and note that this is a district decision:

“For this school year, the ultimate decision whether to include end-of-course exam scores as part of course grades will be determined locally by school districts and charter schools.”

If a district defers implementation a notification to TEA will be necessary.
