VictoryKindergarten Readiness System (KRS)

The Kindergarten Readiness System, formerly known as the Texas School Readiness Certification System (TSRCS), is a statewide effort to identify and designate high quality PreK programs as “PreK Centers of Excellence.”  It is a free and voluntary system open to ISD PreK programs (including PPCD classrooms), Head Start agencies, private preschools, and community-based child care centers serving prekindergarten students.  The purpose of the KRS is to measure and recognize the effective practices already in place in PreK programs and the impact these practices have on student achievement.  KRS is NOT an accountability system.  The KRS analyzes data from participating prekindergarten programs and from each student’s kindergarten reading diagnostic instrument administered at the beginning of the child’s kindergarten year. The analysis results in certification of prekindergarten programs that are successful in preparing students for kindergarten school entry.  More detailed information about the Kindergarten Readiness System is available in the attached brochures and online: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=4528&menu_id=2147483718

Additionally, we will provide a demonstration of the KRS at our School Ready Leaders Network meeting on May 3rd.  (See below for information on how to register for this meeting!)

NOTE: Districts receiving a Texas Literacy Initiative grant are required to participate in the Kindergarten Readiness System for the duration of the grant cycle.

School Ready Leaders Network

Our final School Ready Leaders Network meeting of this school year will be May 3 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.  This is a free networking/training opportunity open to all principals, district administrators, and early childhood leaders. You have the option of attending in person or via distance learning. We hope you’ll choose to join us at the Service Center for interaction with colleagues as this has proven to be a very successful way to share ideas and learn from one another.  Please register in E-Campus to participate: https://ecampus.esc13.net/login.html    Workshop #SP1022597
