Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Review

As you are aware, the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Art, Dance, Music, and Theatre are currently under review/revision by committee members appointed by the State Board of Education (SBOE). Drafts of the reviewed/revised Fine Arts TEKS will be presented to the SBOE for initial discussion on Thursday, July 19. To access the first draft of the Fine Arts TEKS, click on the link to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website provided below:


Furthermore, as stated in this section of the TEA website, feedback will be accepted for the first draft recommendations until Friday, September 14, 2012. Comments about the draft Fine Arts TEKS may be submitted via e-mail at TEKS@tea.state.tx.us.

As a highly valued fine arts educator in Texas, you are encouraged to provide your input and expertise pertaining to this important project that will define the learning standards in art, dance, music, and theatre education, grades K-12. Thank you for all that you do for students and fine arts education in our schools.
