Curriculum Council – November 1, 2012 Follow Up

Thanks to all who were able to join us at Region 13, or through our distance connection, for Curriculum Council. There were a couple of requests for follow up items and links requested by the group:

Rebecca McCoy, Georgetown ISD, shared information from the 2013 Accountability Rating System Development, specifically the Accountability Technical Advisory Committee (ATAC). Cindy Hamilton, Susan Diaz, and Jennifer Drumm shared information related to interventions through the lens of three student scenarios. The emphasis was on knowing individual students and their needs as well as their personal goals. In a recent post to the Campus Leadership blog resources for intervention were shared as well as a link to a graduation flow chart posted by TEA. Bill Bechtol, Eanes ISD, presented information about the High Performance Schools Consortium. Eanes ISD, Lake Travis ISD, and Round Rock ISD are among the 23 districts selected to participate in this consortium. For more information regarding the consortium please visit the TEA website at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/consortium/. Additionally, Bill referenced the work of Texas superintendents in development of the Visioning document with TASA. This document can be downloaded from http://www.transformtexas.org/the-visioning-document/.

Additionally, Bill  shared an exciting event to take place this spring: TEDXYouth@Austin. This event will take place at the Westlake Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 30th from 1:00 – 5:00. Applications for attendance will be open beginning November 26th and the intended audience is middle school and high school students. They are also looking for speakers and volunteers for the event.
