No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Waiver

US Dept of Education recently approved conditionally the TEA waiver submitted for relief from some of the provisions of No Child Left Behind (NCLB).  Under this one-year approval, Texas schools will no longer be designated as have met or missed Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).  We will still however be subject to sanctions based on the lowest performing 15 percent of schools identified as Priority or Focus Schools.  The waiver actually reflected 13 separate provisions of relief from NCLB requirements.  You may want to review the waiver request at  http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=25769803880 (see September 18th request).  Stay tuned for more information as guidance is forthcoming.
