Project Share Information

I am sure you have seen one or more of the updates sent by the Texas Education Agency to listservs for different program areas. This is a good time to remind ourselves of the need for backing up information and resources so that we are not reliant on a single storage solution. Leslie Barrett is the ESC Region 13 Project Share contact and sent the following message out to district Project Share Administrators.

Project Share Administrators,

TEA released the following communication this week:

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently confirmed news that ConnectEDU has filed for bankruptcy protection. ConnectEDU is the parent company of Epsilen. Epsilen provides the learning management system (LMS) used by Project Share and hosts the ESTAR/MSTAR and TxAIR systems.
TEA is working to ensure safekeeping of all Texas-owned data and will share additional information as it becomes available. As a precautionary measure, anyone who has content saved in the Epsilen LMS is encouraged to ensure the content is saved elsewhere.
A few back-up steps you may want to consider include:

Professional Development courses –  access completed courses and download/print course completion certificates if you have not already done so. (teachers & administrators)

If using OnTRACK or other courses with an active grade book, export student grades to an Excel/csv file as a back-up. (teachers)

Download files from Drop Boxes if they’re not backed-up elsewhere. (all users)

Download files from Utilities -> Files/Folders if theyre not backed-up elsewhere. (all users)

If your district has local level course copies (e.g., ELPS Academy), now is the time to export a list of completers. (administrators)
As new information becomes available we will pass it along to you.
