Early Childhood Data System (ECDS)

Paul Chavez presented information relating to the Early Childhood Data System at our Curriculum Council meeting on May 1st and has provided the following update. This topic will also be on the agenda for June 5th so that we can continue to provide information and assistance during this transition. The Texas Education Agency is in the process of conducting five webinars designed to train Education Service Center Early Childhood Data System (ECDS) team members over the next few weeks. We will be sharing information as soon as possible once final decisions have been made at TEA and our team has been trained. The goal is to have LEAs ready to submit ECDS data when the collection window opens June 1st.

Software vendors are aware of the task, and TxEIS and iTCCs will be providing an extracting tool to help our clients create submission files. LEAs will combine assessment data collected this previous fall with data extracted from the local SIS to complete the ECDS submission template.

Please check with your Early Reading or Kindergarten Readiness specialist to verify that the assessment data from the fall is available.

Please check with your PEIMS coordinator for information on TEAL TSDS ECDS access request instructions. Superintendents will need to approve TSDS access requests within five days of the request or the request will be deleted from the system. Many LEAs will choose to have ESC Region 13 staff load the data for you. Please prepared to accept a TSDS access request from an ESC staff member if you receive one.

Please be assured that as soon as ESC Region 13 staff have received training and guidance from TEA on this ECDS task, we will share the information and training with LEAs.

Our ECDS team is lead by Paul Chavez and supported by Michael Ferris, Cathy Doggett and John Shaffer. You can reach any of these folks by calling 512 919-5313 if you have questions or need further information.

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
