Senate Bill 149: Advance Preparation

Keep your eye on Senate Bill 149, it could become effective immediately and impact graduation this spring!
“… alternative methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including the use of individual graduation committees.”
“… shall establish an individual graduation committee at the end of or after the student’s 11th grade year to determine whether the student may qualify to graduate as provided by this section”
What can you do right now?

  • Consider the potential impact on graduation (last minute diplomas, grad announcements, seating order, robes, etc.).
  • Identify potential graduation committee members and consider the schedule for meetings.
  • Consider additional requirements for review for graduation.
  • Review the current engrossed bill at http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Text.aspx?LegSess=84R&Bill=SB149.
