Texas Success! The holidays arrive early for the public schools of Texas.

The holidays arrived early for the public schools of Texas! This August TEA and ESC Region 20 rolled out Texas SUCCESS, an umbrella initiative that encompasses two outstanding computer-based interactive programs designed to support student growth in the critical areas of math and reading.

Istation Reading and Think Through Math are both research-based, highly rated, widely used computer programs that support individualized student progress in reading and math both at school and at home.

Librarians: A new website designed to self-motivate students to make choices and judgements about what is most useful for them as they read, search, watch and play

SlimeKids features an extensive collection of book trailers organized by year and by grade level as well as numerous language arts-related games in such categories as spelling, typing, vocabulary and grammar. Additionally, the website showcases an array of exceptional literacy-related resources such as author and book review websites as well as superb learning tools including reference works and search engines.

As an educator with access to computers I am at a crossroads when it comes to providing my students with access to reading materials. As an administrator, I am challenged to promote book studies and reading lists to promote professional growth. As a librarian, I battle with shrinking book budgets and dwindling student interest in resources that are not interactive.
