Dominant vs Recessive at the Middle School Level

We have had several questions regarding the depth to which genetics should be taught in grades 6-8.   TEA has provided the following clarification: The concepts of dominant and recessive are beyond the scope of the middle school TEKS.   Hope this clears up some of the confusion around this TEKS.

Accelerated Release Schedule for STAAR Assessments

  Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams announced on March 12, 2013 that he is accelerating the scheduled release dates for STAAR. Under the new schedule – all general assessments (does not included STAAR Modified) will be released in August 2013. More information available online.

Clarification on TEKS Grade 8 – 11B
