Why Do They Do That? Coping With a New Generation of Early Childhood Behaviors

Do you have “that kid” in your classroom?  Have you tried everything in your behavior toolbox, but still feel like you’re getting nowhere?  Strong classroom systems and good relationships are some of the tools that help the majority of students to be successful in school.  However, some students need more specialized tactics.  In this workshop we’ll explore what misbehavior looks like in the early childhood classroom, including the purpose that it serves.  Through videos and discussion, we’ll learn how to develop clear expectations that are developmentally appropriate for young learners.  We will also discover useful strategies for effectively dealing with misbehavior and learn practical ways to teach appropriate behavior to even the most challenging students.
