TEA Review of Schedule BS6016 of 2017-18 SpEd Consolidated Grant Application

The Texas Education Agency will be conducting random sampling of LEAs applying for the 2017-18 Special Education Consolidated Grant to request documentation supporting information provided on Schedule BS6016 (LEA MOE for Eligibility section) in the grant.

For selected LEAs possible documentation could be general ledgers and budget reports to support the following amounts:

  • amount of special education expenditures for the most recent prior year in which complete expenditure data are available and the LEA was in MOE compliance
  • budget for special education for 2017-18

The Federal Fiscal Compliance and Reporting Division will contact selected LEAs after the 2017-18 Consolidated Grant Application has been submitted.  Superintendents and special education directors of the selected LEAs will receive an email from compliance@tea.texas.gov.  LEAs contacted must provide documentation within two (2) business days.

With a very limited timeline (2 days) to provide documentation, LEAs are encouraged to identify the documentation to be provided in the event of being selected for the random sampling prior to submission of the grant.

TEA will use e-mails listed in the Texas Education Directory, ASKTED.  Please make sure the information for your LEA is current in ASKTED.
