FREE CEUs for SLPs? How do I get them?

In the era of limited budgets and even more limited time, SLPs in the schools are always looking for opportunities to stretch their professional development budgets and energies.  Here are some suggestions for school-based SLPs to receive FREE CEUs for quality training!

The TSHA Eligibility Guideline Trainings  TSHA and the Texas Education Service Centers have made all of the eligibility guideline trainings available on-line as recorded webcasts.  Most of them are already available, with the remaining few scheduled to be available by the end of this school year.   SLPs in the schools can get 2 TSHA CEUs for each course (that’s 16 hours total).  These coureses are FREE to TSHA members, or are $20 each for non-members (yet another great reason to join TSHA).  All of the handouts and manuals are also available there as PDF documents to download and/or print.

Teaching Strategies for AAC:  How to get kids really talking  This FREE full day class on February 11, 2011 will present a wide range of strategies to support use of augmentative and alternative communication.  While it is presented by Prentke Romich Company, the strategies are not limited to the use of Prentke Romich devices.  Janet Lehr, the presenter of this session, presents nationally on this topic and has a wealth of knowledge to share.  5.0 ASHA CEUs will be provided.

Wednesday Webinar Series – Literacy 101 for SLPs  This series of six 1 hour lunchtime webinars is designed to bring SLPs up to speed on their role in literacy and curriculum.  Four dates remain, ranging from February to May, and 1 hour of TSHA CEUs is offered for each session.
