This announcement came from TEA today:

July 18, 2011

10:00 – 12:00am via TETN

Targeted Audience – District Administrators

Recent legislation passed by the 82nd Texas Legislature has introduced an Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) under Senate Bill 6 (SB 6) for the purchase of instructional materials, technological equipment and technology-related services.

The Texas Education Agency’s division of Instructional Materials and Education Technology will conduct a training session targeted (but not limited) to district administrators on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 10:00 – 12:00 via the TETN videoconferencing network. This training will provide an overview of SB 6 and include information that will assist districts in understanding the impact of their decisions for the  acquisition of instructional materials, technological equipment and technology-related services through the IMA. Timelines and information regarding Proclamation 2011 and Supplemental Science instructional materials will also be shared. Additional training will be provided in the coming weeks for textbook coordinators and administrators regarding the use of the EMAT online ordering system. Specific information with training dates and times will be released as soon as it becomes available.

To attend this training, please contact your TETN site coordinator at your district or your Education Service Center. For questions on Senate Bill 6, send an email to instructional.materials@tea.state.tx.us.
